Precision Layer Sampling Redefined for Soil and Aquatic Environments

Our new version of the Siccum Reverse Core Sampler available on the market.

The Siccum RCS is suitable for use in layer sampling from soil and sea/lake bottoms, for example, sediment sampling. By utilizing freezing technology, the RCS solidifies the sample during extraction, ensuring that the samples represent the layers that are intended to be mapped. The layer size is flexible and can easily be modified as needed. The extraction depth for samples is about 2 meters. The working depth for Siccum RCS is up to 2 meters in standard execution but can be supplemented with an extension kit for an extended working depth of up to 6 meters water column, a total of 8 meters. Siccum RCS is portable and powered by 18V Li-ion batteries to drive the central unit. Mountings are available on both the central unit and layer box for easy anchoring of the central unit, for example, to a dock, pontoon, boat, or sled.

The advantages of Siccum RCS compared to traditional probes are that the layer size is completely flexible and precise. With traditional probes, there is a high risk of mixing the sample material, thereby lowering the quality of the mapping. With rotary probes, the risk of material mixing is reduced, but the layer size is fixed. Additionally, both traditional probes pose certain problems during sampling in water with high risk of contaminating the sample.

For accurate mapping and minimizing the risk of sample contamination, Siccum RCS is one of the best products. Its portable nature also provides significant operational advantages for samplers.
